Being Well (Psalm 16:2)

In February, I shared about the rocky season I’ve been in. I likened myself to a plant and said “I can see little sprouts of green coming in around the edges and so I’m standing on His promises and am waiting to see how He moves.” And not surprisingly, He is faithful.

“I say to the Lord, “You are the Lord,
my only source of well-being.”” Psalm 16:2 (NET)

Earlier this year I laughed at something and startled myself because I was so unused to hearing my laugh anymore. For those who know me, they know I’m a joyous person and am known for my laugh. As a matter of fact, almost 10 years ago I got a word that included the fact that the Lord loves my laugh (that was when I stopped being self-conscious about how loud it is!).

For the last month or two, I’ve actually felt good. This week I realized I’m happy. It’s felt so good that I almost feel high! I’m so grateful my hormones have leveled out and am praying they stay steady (please feel free to pray in agreement with me).

In any case, today in my quiet time the Lord shared the verse above and it just resonated with me so deeply because even in my darkest moments, He was always there. Even in the moments when I was wrongly angry at Him, He stood fast and gripped me all the tighter. His love NEVER fails.

So I guess I say all this for two reasons. First, to pause and thank Him and acknowledge His faithfulness. He deserves the glory. And secondly, just to encourage you (whoever you may be – whether you’re someone I know or not) that He is with you. He IS your well-being, the lover of your soul. His patience extends much further than we can imagine and nothing will run Him off. You can trust Him.

Father, I thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You that You are the source of well-being. You are so good. Father, I lift up anyone who may read this – especially if they are in a dark/rough season (which for some may feel like their whole life) – I just ask that they might know Your touch. That you would make Your love so tangible in their lives that they can’t miss it – that You would shower them with a sense of well-being. You are the source. Ultimately, Father, I ask that their lives would be beautifully changed. Thank You and amen! So be it.
