The Bible in 7 Days

Monday, 21 April 2014 | 2 Comments »

20140421-235449.jpgIn 2009, I attempted a bible read- through in 10 days. It ended up taking 17, but was a very worthwhile experience and He highlighted overarching themes to me during the reading. Recently, He brought one of those themes back to remembrance and when I went back to my blog to find it, He highlighted the idea of a quick read-through to me again.

The Bible in 17 Days

Sunday, 12 July 2009 | 6 Comments »

About two and a half weeks ago I stumbled across a Bible reading plan that took you through the Bible (cover-to-cover) in 7 days.  My first thought was, “That’s insane!  No one could do that!”

The caption under the plan noted that on a vacation was a good time to do a plan like this.  Suddenly I felt a nudge… but I knew I had several activities coming up over the next couple days so I argued with God in my head a little until I finally felt the number 10 settled in my spirit.  So the next day I set out to read the Bible in 10 days. » more »

Prayer Warrior vs. Intercessor

Thursday, 2 April 2009 | 7 Comments »

I recently finished an amazing book called Rees Howells, Intercessor by Norman Grubb (let me just say for the record I do not agree with all his viewpoints, but he lived an amazing life for Christ and his testimony is compelling and challenging; therefore, more than worth the read).

In any case, on page 97 he explains his viewpoint on the difference between a Prayer Warrior and an Intercessor. Since I’ve heard the terms frequently used interchangeably, I found his assertions fascinating and thought-provoking as well as challenging personally. » more »

Christianized Pagan Holidays

Wednesday, 25 March 2009 | 1 Comment »

A topic of much discussion in our home of late is that of “Christianized” pagan holidays like Easter and Christmas.  Koinonia House did an article on it that continued our discussion further that I thought I’d share – the original article (which I’ve quoted in it’s entirety) is found here. » more »

Understanding “the deal” about Israel

Tuesday, 30 September 2008 | No Comments »

Allen and I spoke with Doug Hershey for almost an hour yesterday. Good insights on Israel. I told him I struggled because I knew we’re called to pray for Israel, but I don’t really “get it”. So I tough it out in my flesh because I know I’m “supposed to” and because I want the blessing! But ultimately I peter out because I don’t have it ingrained in my heart.

Then Doug shared something that hit home. The reason we should have a heart for Israel is because of God’s character. He’s promised a lot to them. If He doesn’t fulfill those promises – it would mean we are all in trouble! So we pray for God to be faithful to Israel because it is cheering Him to act in the character we know Him to be. That’s good stuff! » more »

Anything that is not faith is sin. This doesn’t mean of your own accord walking unwisely, but it does mean being obedient to all He calls you to. » more »

Ardent (1 Chron 2:3)

Tuesday, 9 September 2008 | 2 Comments »

It’s 1:25am and I should be in bed.  I wasted  hours watching needless TV and got very little done today after the prayer room with the exception of some good phone time. But I blew the rest of the day and did NOT get my time in with God.  Despite my abundant quantity of time, I don’t seem to get it in… I don’t ever “feel” like it and regardless of how repentant I am, I don’t seem to be able to move past this right now. » more »
