This morning I’m reading out of Isaiah 25 and verse 9 caused me to pause.
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us; this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
The first thing I noted was the waiting. God’s been reminding me about waiting. That is is an active, not passive, activity. We should anticipate Him. Anticipate His showing up and showing off… anticipate His greatness.
The second thing that caught me was that although at first glance it appears the verse is repeating the same thought, it’s not. One says “our God” and the other “the Lord“.
As I meditated on that I realize they are significantly different. “Our God” declares we will worship Him and exalt Him. “The Lord” implies that all is His. It speaks of His sovereignty.
We could choose to worship one who wasn’t sovereign – it’s not a wise choice, but we could! But in this case, our God IS the Lord. That is good. 🙂
Thank You God that You are my God. And thank You that You are Lord. Sovereign. I declare You are Lord in my life. I hold nothing back… it’s all for You. Have Your way with me, with my heart, with my life. I trust You. And declare You are trust worthy! I have seen it and lived it and testify it is so. You are a good God. The only true God. And I love You!

You know, I wish I had the faith and trust that you have in your heart. Maybe I wouldn’t be so flipped out right now. As I read this, I just found myself being thankful again to have you in my life… you’re a good role model. And smart, too. 🙂
The True, Sovereign, Lord…you wrote that beautifully. Gosh! I’ve been reading about Islam and Judaism (thanks to your writings about Israel) and the fact that allah (lower case on purpose) was created by Mohammad to combine the God of the Jews and the God of the Christians, when in fact he is not a being. But their is One. He IS Sovereign. Amen!
