My first thought when God highlighted this verse to me was “double grace!” (the two 5s) 🙂
I finished reading the chapter looking for context and then returned to the verse.
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. Galations 5:5
The Amplified brought more clarity. “For we, [not relying on the Law but] through the [Holy] Spirit’s [help], by faith anticipate and wait for the blessing and good for which our righteousness and right standing with God [our conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action, causes us] to hope.”
But finally the NLT (1996 version)Â brought it home. “But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive everything promised to us who are right with God through faith.”
“…eagerly wait to receive everything promised…” Yes. That’s me. I’m eager and I’m definitely waiting. Everything promised… everything from salvation to provision to whatever. Everything.
“…who are right with God through faith.” We are only right with God through faith. Again it’s all conditional on faith!
But it also is about living “by the Spirit”. We have to live by the Spirit of God. For when we live by the Spirit, and when we have that faith, we do wait eagerly because we KNOW that He will be faithful. There is no doubt.
So Lord, help me live by Your Spirit and stay in faith. Rooted there. Unmoveable. That I might eagerly wait on all You have for me. That truly is the moment I am in now isn’t it? I’m going to wait on You Lord. I desire that eagerness. That hunger. My hope is in You. Where else can I turn. You are life!
So take my life. Continue to have Your way. Write Your testimony. All I have and all I am is Yours. So thank You for Your double grace on this verse… I need it!
