He is the Power

An email exchange this morning brought to mind something I realized would be a good reminder for all of us. In Choosing to Hear God (Exodus 20:18-21) & How-to Receive D4Y Art/Silk, I talked about how it’s easy to want to rely on our natural senses – letting another human hear God for us and tell us what He is saying. Training our spiritual senses takes time and we likely will make mistakes along the way, so too often people choose the easier path. But in doing so they miss the blessing of a deep relationship with God. In the same way, often we want to look to spiritual people or things almost as a talisman. And that is what I want to touch on today.

Since I create prayer silks, I’ll use that as an example because we occasionally get emails from people who are desperately seeking breakthrough and are frustrated because they don’t have the funds to buy a silk. Let me start by saying this isn’t a money thing. We often give away silks when Father says to, so we have learned that if He wants someone to have something, He will supply for it.

At the same time, He will not give someone something that will cause them to stumble. If someone is looking to the object as having the power, they are in essence making it an idol. God won’t help them with this. We can never forget: the power is in our God, not in the object. Trust that He will give you what you need when you need it.

God Moving Through Things

Lets look at an example in scripture. In Acts 19:11-12 (NIV) it reads, “God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.” My question is: did the object themselves have power? No – of course not!  It says God did “extraordinary miracles through Paul” and in the same way He did them through the objects. It is a small but vital distinction.

I share my personal history with prayer cloths and anointing oil on our Dyed4you site, and in it I share that in a pinch God had me use paper towels and olive oil (very spiritual stuff LOL!) during my warfare for my marriage (which I share in greater depth in my marriage testimony – BTW we’re 15 years and counting, praise God!). God moved powerfully through the things I had on hand because I was obedient to use what He said. Again, He is the power.

If you follow our Dyed4you blog what I am saying here may seem in conflict with the posts I’ve shared on why it matters who makes your flags and anointed vs. counterfeit, but it isn’t and here’s why: It is all about doing what He says. Are you called to create flags? If no, then don’t! As Psalm 127 (NKJV) says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it…”

SIDE NOTE: And for the record, if you ARE called by God to create flags, then do – with my blessing. I support my fellow flag ministries – they are NOT competitors, they are co-laborers. we each bring our own flavor and God-given creativity. We each create tools that God wants to use for His glory in His way and His timing. I have flags from a number of other ministries in my arsenal (you’ll find some video on our Dyed4you blog) and love co-mingling anointings. 🙂

Getting back on track here… really this comes down to two things:

  1. Having a relationship with God so you can hear what He’s telling you
  2. Being obedient to what He tells you

In Closing

Yes, God can move powerfully through anointed items, but we must always remember He is the power. Cultivate your relationships with Him, your ability (and confidence) to hear Him. Learn to trust what He says and do it without question. Make room for Him to move powerfully on your behalf. His desire to do so is greater than your desire for Him to do so! Hey that’s straight out of today’s Dyed4you Ministries Prophetic Nugget “Blessing the Upright” – fun how He tied that back together 🙂

Hopefully this reminder blesses you because it takes a burden of having to have something else off of you because HE is all you need. Anything additional He wants you to have, HE will provide for. So just rest in Him and obey. Blessings to you!
