Being Holy (1 Peter 1:14-16)

Friday, 7 December 2012 | 1 Comment »

As I was reading in 1 Peter the other day, a few verses jumped out at me. It has had me pondering NT quotes of the OT and how much we miss as believer because we don’t know the word and where the verses are that are being quoted. This scripture from 1 Peter 1:14-16 (NKJV) I believe is a good example:

Qadash (H6942)

Wednesday, 5 September 2012 | 5 Comments »

As I was reading this evening I came upon the word “hallowed” in a verse and though I know what it means felt prompted to dig a bit more.  The Hebrew word for hallowed (which in other translations was sanctified) is qadash (H6942), which is the root word that qadosh (H6918) comes from which generally means holy. » more »

Who Will You Worship

Wednesday, 1 August 2012 | 7 Comments »

The topic on my heart today is worship. This isn’t completely surprising since that’s the heart of Dyed4you Ministries and D4Ymin is my life :)

But today I want to challenge us to consider who we are actually giving our praise to.  I know most who follow this blog or are part of the D4Y Community would quickly answer (as I would) that their praise goes to the Lord alone.  But I want to pause and ask does it really…? » more »

Bringer of Temptations (Matthew 18:7)

Thursday, 28 July 2011 | 4 Comments »

I’ve been chewing on a verse since yesterday that has me pondering what my actions cause.  The verse is Matthew 18:7 and I’ve bolded the part that has me thinking:

Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes! » more »

Respecter of Persons (James 2)

Thursday, 2 September 2010 | 5 Comments »

There’s a verse in James 2 often quoted where we’re chastened not to be a respecter of persons. The example that corresponds describes two men – one who appears rich and the other poor. I’ve often heard this verse cited as support that what God does for one person, He’ll do for another. I think this appeals to our western ideas of fairness so we embrace this concept. And yet, I’ve wondered… » more »

Abiding (John 15)

Monday, 16 November 2009 | 5 Comments »

Last April, God was speaking to me about abiding in Him and that as we do we cannot sin.  Recently, as I meditated on that God showed me a vision of me literally stepping into the body of Jesus. As He moved I moved in unison. Being one. Far exceeding the intimacy husbands and wives experience as the two become one flesh.

As the Lord was showing me, as I was inside Him – abiding in Him – I fully understood why I could not sin. » more »

Walking in Light (1 John 1:7)

Sunday, 18 October 2009 | 1 Comment »

There are many people who call themselves Christians who still enjoy activities associated with darkness (spiritual darkness). Whether it be being entertained by things filled with death and lust or heart issues like judgment, envy, or fear. The problem is that according to the word these people are deceiving themselves.

Chief Sinner (1 Tim 1:15)

Monday, 4 May 2009 | 3 Comments »

Something heavily on my heart lately is my own sin.  I don’t know if it’s simply because I’ve been having a particularly frustrating bout with some little foxes or what exactly… some of it has felt nearly overwhelming – like “how on earth could God use me?!” The thing I find ironic is that most people I know think I’m like “super-church-girl”… all holy and whatnot (and how I wish I were!), but yet I am feeling the weight of my sinful nature and poor choices. » more »
