Releasing What’s “Mine”

Wednesday, 9 December 2009 | 4 Comments »

I had a moment with the dog (Sketch) today that God used to highlight an interesting point to me.

I went to join Sketch on the floor for a moment of snuggles, his bone on the floor next to him. As I got down by his head as we typically do he had a moment where he turned to protect his bone from me. » more »

Loving like Jesus

Though we’re called to love like Jesus loved, few of us want to or even really try to because the cost is high. » more »

Giving Thanks (Ephesians 5:20)

Monday, 16 November 2009 | 1 Comment »

A verse that has been stretching me recently is Ephesians 5:20 AMP:

At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

How many times are we supposed to give thanks? All. And for how many things? Everything. Wow. That’s a tall order! I don’t know about you, but historically when someone hurts me it’s not been my first thought to give thanks for that… yet that’s what this scripture is telling us to do. So someone is mean to us… we give thanks? Yep. Can’t pay the bills… we give thanks? That’s right! » more »

Abiding (John 15)

Monday, 16 November 2009 | 3 Comments »

Last April, God was speaking to me about abiding in Him and that as we do we cannot sin.  Recently, as I meditated on that God showed me a vision of me literally stepping into the body of Jesus. As He moved I moved in unison. Being one. Far exceeding the intimacy husbands and wives experience as the two become one flesh.

As the Lord was showing me, as I was inside Him – abiding in Him – I fully understood why I could not sin. » more »

Not Judging & Being Reconciled (Matt 5:21-26)

Saturday, 24 October 2009 | 2 Comments »

Too often we are quick to pass judgment on those around us – calling the person who cut us off in traffic an idiot or the guy who messed up a project at work a moron. We make these statements with little-to-no thought only consumed with our momentary emotions. Whether say the words aloud or not, what we don’t realize is the depth of separation these careless emotions cause. » more »

Walking in Light (1 John 1:7)

Sunday, 18 October 2009 | 1 Comment »

There are many people who call themselves Christians who still enjoy activities associated with darkness (spiritual darkness). Whether it be being entertained by things filled with death and lust or heart issues like judgment, envy, or fear. The problem is that according to the word these people are deceiving themselves.

Wait

Tuesday, 6 October 2009 | 4 Comments »

It’s been hard for me to blog lately. We’re in such a desert season and everything feels dry and cracked and ugly. So I’ve been journaling to myself and God and leaving y’all out of the mix.

You see in a season like this where God’s asked you to do things that in the natural are just foolish… it’s hard not to struggle with feeling completely… well, foolish! And feeling foolish makes you feel like you have nothing to share.

But today a friend posted a scripture that immediately quickened in my spirit (thank you Lisa!). It was 2 Chronicles 20:15, 17:

Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you… Do not fear or be dismayed… for the LORD is with you. » more »

Complete Obedience (Judges 2)

Monday, 29 June 2009 | 3 Comments »

There are those who accuse those who walk in complete obedience to the Lord as being radical. Radical obedience. I guess the question I’d ask is if you are only partially obedient, are you actually being obedient? » more »

Passion Matters (Numbers 25)

Thursday, 25 June 2009 | 3 Comments »

In Numbers 25 we find the Israelites running after foreign gods (remember this is right after God saved Balaam from cursing them… essentially they’re repaying God’s mercy with unfaithfulness). Many were partaking in rituals worshiping these gods and included in this “worship” was sexual acts with the Moabite woman (the Moabites were descendants from the incest between Lot’s daughters and their father after being rescued by God from Sodom and Gomorrah). God was so angry He sent a plague through the Israelite camp and is wiping them out in His jealous rage.

Showing God is Worthy of Our Trust (Numbers 20)

Saturday, 20 June 2009 | 5 Comments »

Numbers 20:1-13 is where the Israelites are complaining to Moses (again) about the lack of water. Moses and Aaron get on their faces and seek God and He gives very clear instructions:

Moses SPEAK to the rock and I will bring forth water. So Moses gathers the people and he STRIKES the rock and God (in His mercy) brings forth water.

Afterward, God disciplines Moses and Aaron and tells them because they didn’t “believe” Him enough to “sanctify” Him they would not be able to enter the promised land. » more »
