El Roi [the God Who Sees]

Sunday, 2 December 2012 | 3 Comments »

Since I got a strong word of exhortation on Friday, the Father has had me pondering one of His names: El Roi, which means the God Who Sees.  This comes from Genesis 16:13 where Hagar has run away from Sarai for being cruel (which you may remember I blogged on about this time last year). The Lord gives Hagar a word and part of her response is:

Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees”… » more »

Not Speaking on Behalf of other gods (Exodus 23:13)

Monday, 11 July 2011 | 12 Comments »

Too frequently I hear stories of what the enemy is doing in people’s lives. I know I’ve been guilty of it myself on occasion, but let me ask a question, who do you want to give praise to? Our God – YHWH, Creator of heaven and earth – the only true and living God? Or the enemy? » more »

Woe: Trusting in Man (Isaiah 31:1, 3)

Sunday, 13 February 2011 | 2 Comments »

I chuckled a bit when I felt the nudge to blog on Isaiah 31 because it, like my last post, is on not trusting in man. I was like, “Yes Lord, I see the theme!”

Here is Isaiah 31:1, 3a (empasis mine)

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the LORD!

The Egyptians are man, and not God, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. » more »

If worship is our gift to God is it more important that it be how we want? Or how He wants? » more »

Holy is the Lord

Wednesday, 12 May 2010 | No Comments »

I was laying in bed listening to Shane & Shane’s Worthy of Affection and in one of the lyrics it says “holy is the Lord”. Holy is something we often call the Lord — and we know in heaven they cry it out around the throne of God unceasingly (Rev 4:8), but I started wondering… what exactly does “holy” mean? I had a general idea but wanted a more concrete understanding. » more »

No Want

O fear the Lord, you His saints! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear. – Psalm 34:9 AMP

The Lord highlighted this verse to me. Two things jumped out at me: » more »

Jonah and the fear of the Lord

Saturday, 22 November 2008 | 2 Comments »

This morning the Lord took me to the book of Jonah.  He’d talked with me a few months ago about Jonah & Not Missing God’s Plan, so I was curious to see what He’d have to show me today…

You probably know the story already but let me set the scene quickly – The people of Nineveh are a mess, they are steeped in ungodliness, and God is about to judge them.  In His mercy, God tells Jonah to go to Nineveh to tell them what He’s going to do (God is so kind – wants to give them one more chance to get right). » more »

Worship / Fear of the Lord (Matthew 4:10)

Friday, 12 September 2008 | 1 Comment »

As has become the pattern of how He draws me into His word, I asked tonight where He would have me to read.  Initially He wouldn’t answer.  I had Thera on my heart and sensed He wanted me to stop and pray.  So I did – with pleasure. :) Once done, I paused again and asked and this time got an answer – Matthew 4:10.  Seeing the original verse in the context of verses 8-10, will help clarify: » more »

Growing Reverence (Gelah Raz)

Thursday, 21 August 2008 | 1 Comment »

Thank You Lord… You are so good.  You are faithful and You hear and respond to our prayers.

God forgive me.  Forgive me for my arrogance in Your presence that I mistook for boldness.  Thank You for the increasing understanding You are giving me of who You are.  And the more I see and understand of who You are the more in awe I am at the fact that You are remotely mindful of me… let alone faithful to me and completely, jealously in love with me. » more »
